The Identity Crisis Poster Series is a set of 3 posters that address the struggles of having an invisible illness. Many people with invisible illnesses consider it a huge part of their identity but struggle in coming to terms with it because of the large stigma surrounding it. One of the largest criticisms is that those from the outside only see what’s on the surface and not all the trouble and turmoil deep within. Playing off this idea, the poster series features 3 different variations of looking beneath the surface. The posters are typographically driven and take shape from various instances in nature that reflect this “outside looking in” concept. Thus, we have an iceberg and the ice under the water, a tree and its roots, and a volcano with lava under the ground. The typeface chosen for these posters was Interface in varying weights and the imagery and textures were all created and edited in Photoshop.
