For this infographic 3-part series, I choose a nonprofit in which I have a personal connection too, Dysautonomia International. The purpose of the project was to create a unique solution to educate viewers on your nonprofit using infographics. Dysautonomia International is a nonprofit that helps raise awareness and funding for Dysautonomic disorders, or disorders of the autonomic nervous system. The most abundant of these disorders being POTS, or postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. Essentially this disorder causes those afflicted to have difficulty standing upright because blood tends to pool at their feet instead of returning back to the brain causing a rapid heartbeat and near fainting. Because it is a neurological disorder it can cause a number of hardships and symptoms ranging just about everywhere in the body. Because there is no cure and many medical professionals don't even know of its existence, Dysautonomia International’s goal is to help the millions of people who live with these disorders find acceptance and help. For my infographics, I decided to focus on the environment as the driving force behind what each infographic would showcase. I choose to make a poster series where each poster would be in areas where people tend to stand for prolonged periods. Each infographic plays off their location from bus shelter, to subway, to elevator, and gives valuable information on the disorder. The iconography in the posters is based of medical imagery and is simple to not distract from the most important part, the information.
